Hardwood floors will last for years. I recommend a buff and coat after five years to keep it looking fresh and clean. This is a one or two day project. Contact us for a free estimate!
We recommend that you and any furry companions live outside the home during the refinishing/installation process. If this is not an option, we can discuss alternate solutions specific to your situation.
Yes, carpet traps dirt, dust, and other allergens. These allergens are dispersed throughout the room anytime you vacuum. With hardwood, the dirt and dust is visible and easy to clean.
Yes, we always have vacuums attached to our sanders. We also use newer equipment that is designed with dust control in mind. Very little to no dust will be dispersed throughout the home.
Sweep and vacuum the floor on a regular basis. Only use cleaners that are recommended for floors, do not use Murphy’s soap, vinegar, ammonia, pine cleaners, or furniture polish.
Humidity levels throughout the home should be kept to around 45%. If the humidity is too low, the floor will crack. If the humidity is too high, the floor will swell.
For most applications, we find that water based products work the best. We are able to use oil based products in specific situations or when requested.
- Furniture protectors should be used anytime furniture is moved around on the floor.
- Never wax a polyurethane floor. A simple buff and coat will not fix the damage caused by the wax.
- Do not steam clean or wet mop wood floors, this will cause your floor to swell and cup overtime.
